WHAT IS THIS SITE?
Welcome to the Mindful Veterans of Delaware (MVD) on-line board. This site is run by and for US Military Veterans. Late in 2015 we started this site specifically for those who have graduated from the Wilmington VA's eight week course Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and participate (or are eligible to participate) in the on-going graduate Mindfulness groups held Mondays and Thursdays at the Wilmington VAMC. Involved VA staff are also welcomed here. While not an official VA site, Dr. Jenna Tedesco and Freddy Allen have approved and will be providing us resources and support as we grow this site. However, now we are also extending an open invitation to all veterans around the country. If you are a US Veteran and graduate of any Mindfulness-based training (MBSR, MBCT, etc) or you are a VA Staff Mindfulness Leader and are interested in joining our group, please send a message to the administrator of this board at mindfulwilmingtondelvets@gmail.com (lovingly known as "Admin").
As more and more Vets take the MBSR and other mindfulness-based training as part of their holistic medical treatment at the VA, we think it will be good for them to have this site as a mindfulness information resource and as well to have the on-line support of fellow mindfulness practitioners as a virtual community. The development of this board will depend entirely on all who join us and what they contribute. Those of us already in the group know from personal experience the power of mindfulness practices to deal with Depression, Chronic Pain, PTSD, Agent Orange Syndrome, Anger management etc because it's helping us. We want to share this experience and insight so hope that more Vets will discover the great value of this research-backed approach to healing. We hope this web board can be a place for them to come as well.
PURPOSE OF THIS SITE:
The purpose of this site is two-fold: First, to serve as a resource of information, providing information and links to web sites, books, articles, research, videos, audios related to themes of MBSR and mindfulness; Second, to become a virtual community, a "Vets Sangha" of sorts, where we share, discuss and support each other in our applications of Mindfulness to our personal healing and our lives.
This is very much a work in progress and will evolve depending on the participation and contribution of members here.

C. COMMUNITY STANDARDS:
This board is free, hosted by ProBoards(yes, there are some banner ads but they're not intrusive). They have a long list of things that are prohibited, or of expectations for behavior/speech while using this forum. The obvious ones are, NO: hate speech, pornography, threats of violence, etc. The link to the full page of community stardards of our host (ProBoards) is below, but in short form, this is what we ask of participants on this board:
1. Treat each other with respect and loving kindness in a spirit of non-judgmental mindfulness (This should be all the rule we need really).
2. Please, none of following: advertising or commercial information, obscenity, ideological, political or religious proselytizing.
3. What's said on the board stays on the board; no copying others words outside of the board.
