Got this from Dr. Wright. It can be read on a Kindle or via various apps on smartphones and PC. This is the email from Dr. Kearney who worked with the Seattle VA to produce this book:
Over the past two years our group at the Seattle VA has been working on a ‘Toolkit’ to help other VA facilities develop mindfulness programs. This project was funded by VA Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation. This completed toolkit is a small book titled Teaching Mindfulness to Veterans: A Resource. We are seeking to disseminate this work, and given your interest in mindfulness programs, I thought that it would be appropriate to send you this email.
..
E-book: We also have published this as a free Kindle book. If you prefer to obtain this as an e-book(link broken, search on Amazon.com).
This project involved conducting qualitative research to better understand the experience of Veterans who participated in, declined, or dropped out of MBSR. In this way, we sought to understand the Veteran experience as it relates to participation in MBSR. We then created a Veteran-centric document which provides reflections, observations and suggestions about how to teach mindfulness to groups of Veterans. The document represents the combined perspective of Veterans and some very experienced teachers of mindfulness. It is a short book – currently about 100 pages long. I think that the many raw quotes from Veterans are quite powerful, and serve to illustrate the great need for mindfulness programs in the VA.
The document also includes a chapters that summarize the science behind teaching mindfulness for chronic pain, PTSD and depression...
