This was in another part of the site, putting it here so it's easier to find:
Just finished reading "Wherever You Go There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life", 10th anniversary (2005) edition, Jon Kabat-Zinn. It is the first book he wrote after the groundbreaking Full Catastrophe Living (the 'textbook' of our Mindfulness course at VA, MBSR). It is a series of short reflections on many aspects of mindfulness, both formal and in daily life. Book is divided into 3 parts, "The Bloom of the Present Moment", "The Heart of Practice" and "In the Spirit of Mindfulness" This book is really excellent and it seems to me is good both for someone considering mindfulness for the first time, or for someone who is already engaging in some form of mindful meditation practice. While I got this from the Library, I'm definitely going to buy my own copy, as it's the sort to be picked up and read again from time to time, similar to the way Thich Nhat Hanh is for me -- almost a comfort to read. Also, the man Jon Kabat-Zinn is slightly revealed here as well, in his talks about mindful parenting. I'm so impressed with how he has distilled so much of the Buddhist tradition and made it relevant to the modern (Western) reader. Also, he had alot of great quotes from the likes of Thoreau, Emerson,Chuang-Tzu, Lao Tsu and many others. Highly recommend this one.
