Wilmington(DEL) VA News:
June 6, 2018
In 2009 Dr. Jenna Tedesco, Psy.D., was initially hired by the VA to found the Mindfulness Program for PTSD veterans at the Wilmington VA. She has served over 1500 veterans through the 8 week MBSR courses over the last nine years, as well as many more veterans in various mindfulness groups and individual therapies. So it is with great sadness that we announce that she has been forced by the VA to resign from her position at the Wilmington, Delaware VA Medical Center(WVMAC). This decision by the leadership of the VA means the end of on-going 8 weeks MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) programs lead by a nationally-recognized mindfulness MBSR leader and teacher. Furthermore, Dr. Tedesco's forced resignation also prematurely ended "Vanguards of Mindful Stewartship", a leading-edge mindfulness teacher-training one year course for veterans which was created and conducted by Dr. Tedesco.
Dr. Tedesco's main concern is that all her veteran patients and students know the circumstances of her resignation, as she was forbidden to communicate with any of them in her final days of employment for the VA. So, she asked me to share the facts of how and why she left the VA:
Dr. Tedesco was essentially forced to resign from her position, a situation which involved the VA's unwillingness to provide needed accommodation for her medical condition and ultimately the VA's thinly veiled accusations predicated on lies -- which were absolutely devastating to her. She could have fought more, but the VA has deeper pockets. She will continue to practice and teach out of her private practice, the Present Center for Mindfulness and Healing, and invites all veterans to contact her at 302-415-2771.
Also, there is a standing mindfulness group for her MBSR graduate veterans -- or any vets interested in learning more about it -- which will begin Tuesday, June 12, 2018, and be held weekly on Tuesdays at her office in Wilmington, 10:00 to 12:00.
