Thought I would share a definition I stumbled across.
Mindfulness meditation is unique in that it is not directed toward getting us to be different from how we already are. Instead, it helps us become aware of what is already true moment by moment. We could say that it teaches us how to be unconditionally present; that is, it helps us be present with whatever is happening, no matter what it is.

While it is much more, to me mindfulness is about 'being' rather than 'doing'. The power of mindful meditation to 'take me there' is quite remarkable. Also, when I meditate it always feels like the first time I ever tried it, though in retrospect I can see that what I experience now as compared to over 2 years ago when I first started is quite different.

I'm trying a little experiment: I decided to try driving with no radio on. I am trying to see how much I can be mindful in just taking in what I see and hear, and what it feels like to be moving along at whatever speed I'm doing. It's been a few days now and it's pretty interesting to see how the mind wanders all over the place. Still weird not to be listening to my rock n roll as I roll down Kirkwood hwy though.
