Haven't read this yet, but did explore the opening pages of the ebook sampler online (LINK HERE). What appealed to me was how she opens up by talking about her work with 5000 US military personnel returning from duty in Afghanistan. Also, since she is an artist and poet -- in addition to being a psychotherapist -- I thought that Mindfulness-through-poetry-writing is an approach that might be appealing to some of our readers. So, no review now, but if I read it I will add a review; but please remember that anyone else is welcome(nay, invited) to do that and post it here on mindfulvets.net. It helps the admin guy.

Quantum Poetry: A Mindfulness Method
Vali J. Hawkins Mitchell, Ph.D., LMHC, REAT

There are countless ways to work through our strong and sometimes difficult emotions. Dr. Vali’s method of using writing and meditative poetry to manage powerful emotions, such as grief and despair, can offer yet another option. The method can stand-alone or be used in combination with ongoing therapy and other self-care practices. Read the entire text, which was a portion of research for a Masters Degree in Expressive Arts Therapy, or simply go to the appendix and make use of the simple method. No particular skill set or theology is necessary and you can custom design the practice to fit your specific journey. Grief, or even the darkest despair, can seem like a never-ending abyss. One key to emotional resiliency is to honor those human feelings, feel-them-to-heal-them, but don’t rent a truck and move your emotional furniture into that deep place.
