We are seeking testimonials, either in written form, or by video/audio, which we want to compile here on mindfulvets.net and make them available to anyone. We in the Mindful Delaware Veterans share with each other weekly the impact of meditation and mindfulness practice on our lives as veterans. Some of us who graduated from Dr. Tedesco's first MBSR over six years ago at the Wilmington (Del) VA tell each other of the transformative power of what was learned in MBSR and in subsequent follow-up groups guided by Dr. Tedesco. It is our hope on Mindful Veterans Connection to document these testimonials and make them available to other veterans anywhere; or our stories can be available to anyone considering the MBSR or whether mindful meditation training suits them.
We are doing this in the hopes that somewhere, someday, a veteran who is suffering alone --and wondering if MBSR would help him/her -- reads/views these testimonials and then reaches out for help. That is our reason for doing this. Also, it encourages those of us working towards being more mindful to hear how others have applied the same things we learned in MBSR into their own lives and situations.
So, we invite any veteran who has taken the MBSR anywhere to share your story with us on this website. Also, we know that MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) has helped many as well, especially with Depression and PTSD, so for you vets who have had or used MBCT we would like to hear your story too. You can also post anonymously if you like.
We will be creating a repository on Youtube for those who want to share their story of mindfulness by video. Written testimonials will be posted on this site, though as of yet we're not sure technically where they'll be stored. For now, we'll have them as a part of this thread(discussion).
So...to get this started, we invite the charter members (you Delaware vets) to tell us how the MBSR and mindfulness techniques have affected you. You can do this by simply adding your story in a 'reply' to this thread.
A practical note: If you're going to write up a testimonial, we suggest you type it up in your word-processor (or text editor) and then cut & paste it into a reply field of this item. If anyone needs help please message Dana at the admin address of this site. Looking forward to hearing your stories.
